Peacock Will Launch in The U.K. and Europe Later This Year

Peacock is expanding its reach and adding more countries to its list of available areas. NBC’s streaming service is heading for the UK and select European countries including Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland later this year via Sky. Up until now, Peacock has only been available to North American viewers. This new expansion will make Peacock available to 20 million Sky customers at no extra cost with Sky Q, NOW, and Sky Ticket subscriptions.

Sky customers will have access to Peacock’s ad-supported programming, including The Office, Downton Abbey, Young Rock, Kardashians, Suits, Saved by the Bell, and more, with more Originals and NBC content added over time.

“Peacock will be a great addition for Sky customers with over 7,000 hours of content at no additional cost,” said Dana Strong, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sky. “This exceptional value add is another example of the great ways we are innovating to bring more benefits to our customers from the synergies across Sky, NBCUniversal, and Comcast Cable.”

By leveraging Comcast’s Xfinity platforms in the U.S., we were able to test and learn, quickly drive scale, usage, and brand awareness of Peacock,” said Jeff Shell, Chief Executive Officer, NBCUniversal. “We look forward to doing the same with Sky in Europe.”

No official launch date has been announced, other than later in 2021. Peacock recently ended Q2 2021 with 54 million sign-ups, according to Comcast’s earnings report Thursday morning. That number includes over 20 million monthly active users.
