Peacock Removes Live Feed of ‘Squawk Box’ and ‘Morning Joe’

Peacock has shut off the live feed versions of its cable news programs Squawk Box and Morning Joe that were available on the streaming service.

A Peacock spokesperson confirmed to Cord Cutters News that they have been pulled, and that there is no timing on when — or if — they will return. The person pointed to other sources of news content on the service, including NBC News Now for $5.99 a month and an array of programming from your local affiliates if you subscribe to its $11.99-a-month Premium Plus tier.

The service offered the same feed of Squawk Box, found on cable on CNBC, and MSNBC’s Morning Joe, starring host Joe Scarborough, as a streaming companion to the cable version. Those were the only two NBC programs that saw a simultaneous live feed, and were treated as a bit of an experiment, according to the Peacock spokesperson.

It’s likely the most viewers caught the programs on cable rather than streaming. The service, owned by Comcast, will likely look at offering more programming that’s specific to Peacock, instead keeping its cable program exclusive to cable.
