Peacock Reaches 10 Million Sign Ups

In its quarterly earnings report this morning, Comcast shared a drop in revenue and the overall negative effects of COVID on the business but included a bright spot in for the quarter: the launch of Peacock. The new streaming service has reached 10 million sign ups, according to Comcast.

Peacock launched nationwide on July 15, after becoming available to Comcast customers on April 15. The service includes a free tier, premium tier for $4.99/month, and an upgrade option for an ad-free experience for $9.99/month. The free tier includes over 13,000 hours of content with the premium tier offering over 20,000 hours of content including original series and early access to NBC late night shows.

Comcast’s NBCUniversal believes that by the end of 2024, they will have 30-35 million active accounts, bringing in $6-7 per user, with $2.5 billion in revenue, and will break even. Beyond that, the company expects profitability as they continue to expand.
