Peacock Launches In-Market Streaming of NBC Sports Regional Networks, Bringing Live MLB, NBA, and NHL Games to Subscribers

Peacock took a major leap forward in its sports streaming offerings on March 18, 2025, launching in-market add-on subscriptions for NBC Sports Regional Networks. The move grants Peacock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers direct access to live MLB, NBA, and NHL games, alongside comprehensive local sports coverage, through four regional networks: NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports Boston, NBC Sports California, and NBC Sports Philadelphia. This expansion transforms Peacock into a one-stop hub for fans in these markets, delivering 24/7 streams of their favorite teams’ action without the need for a traditional cable package.

The new subscriptions unlock a roster of high-profile teams across multiple leagues. Subscribers can catch MLB’s Oakland Athletics, San Francisco Giants, and Philadelphia Phillies; NBA’s Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers; and NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks. Beyond the big three, the networks offer additional pro and college sports, including NWSL’s Bay FC, NBA G League matchups, and select football and basketball from San Jose State University. Each network surrounds its live games with pregame and postgame shows, plus extensive NFL programming—think San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles gameday coverage—alongside daily sports news and analysis staples like Boston Sports Tonight and SportsNet Central.

Here’s the breakdown: NBC Sports Bay Area beams Giants and Warriors games, 49ers-focused shows, and extras like Bay FC and Santa Cruz Warriors coverage, priced at $17.95 monthly. NBC Sports Boston delivers Celtics action, Patriots programming, and shows like Early Edition, plus Connecticut Sun and Maine Celtics games, for $14.95 a month. NBC Sports California streams Athletics, Kings, and Sharks contests, with San Jose State and San Jose Barracuda highlights, also at $17.95 monthly. NBC Sports Philadelphia, the priciest at $24.95 a month, offers Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers games, Eagles coverage, and college sports.

Available to Peacock Premium ($7.99/mo.) or Premium Plus ($13.99/mo.) subscribers in each network’s territory, these add-ons bring the total cost to between $22.94 and $38.94 monthly, depending on the plan and region. The 24/7 streams include non-nationally exclusive regular-season and postseason games, plus select preseason matchups, with overflow “plus” channel games offered as separate live-event streams. In-market blackouts may apply based on location and league rules, a nod to traditional TV availability constraints. Fans can sign up via the networks’ respective websites, marking a streamlined entry point for cord-cutters.

This launch fulfills long-speculated plans to integrate NBC’s regional sports assets into Peacock, a move hinted at since 2024 when the Wall Street Journal reported a potential 2025 rollout. It’s a strategic play by NBCUniversal to modernize local sports delivery, leveraging Peacock’s infrastructure—already home to NFL’s Sunday Night Football and Premier League soccer—to reach fans bypassing cable.

For Bay Area, Boston, California, and Philly fans, Peacock’s new offering means no more juggling pricey live-TV bundles like YouTube TV ($73/mo.) for regional sports. With schedules packed with live games and local flavor—from 49ers gameday shows to Celtics postgame breakdowns—it’s a bold step into 2025’s streaming frontier, blending tradition with the future of fandom.
