Peacock is Getting a ‘Bridgerton’ Inspired Dating Competition Show

Peacock has ordered a new series that will help a Duchess find her Duke in a dating competition placed in a Regency-era setting. The series, titled Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment In Romance, will house one heroine and her entourage of suitors in a countryside castle in England where their courtship will consist of period-appropriate activities such as archery, carriage rides, handwritten love letters and more.

If dating a Duke sound familiar, the series begs similarities to Netflix’s Bridgerton which took the streaming world by storm at the beginning of this year. The Shonda Rhimes period drama series had record viewership numbers during the holiday week of Dec. 25-31. Netflix revealed its series surpassed the streamer’s expected 63 million views by a landslide and was watched by a record 82 million households globally in its first four weeks. Production is already rolling on season 2, and Netflix recently confirmed there will also be a 3 and 4. The series is based on a set of nine books by Julia Quinn.

Now it seems Bridgerton’s popularity is spilling over into other outlets including merchandise, clothing styles, and now a reality dating competition. Stay tuned for an official release date.
