Peacock Adds Bob Costas to MLB Coverage

A familiar face is returning to NBC Sports during the upcoming MLB season. Bob Costas, one of baseball’s marquee voices, will host the new Sunday Night Baseball pregame show. He’ll kick off NBC’s primetime MLB package when the network opens its season on March 26 with the Dodgers’ primetime opener at Dodger Stadium, which will also stream on Peacock.

The 29-time Sports Emmy winner brings decades of big-game experience across NBC, the Olympics, and more. His return is a bridge between NBC’s storied baseball past and its 2026 relaunch. Additionally, the legendary sportscaster will contribute to the NBA on NBC.

“As appreciative as I am of other aspects of my career, especially HBO and the MLB Network, for 40 years, my true broadcasting home was NBC,” Costas said. “So many great moments, memories, and friendships. Now, I am very grateful to Rick Cordella and Sam Flood for inviting me back in an emeritus role to conclude my career where so much of it played out.”

As Peacock becomes a major player in the sport, cord cutters can watch 60+ games on the streamer throughout the 2026 season. The schedule features a mix of afternoon telecasts, primetime windows, and the new lineup in the MLB Sunday Leadoff series.

With Bob Costas returning as host, expect NBC Sports to present thoughtful pregame storytelling that leans on history, big-game context, and smart interviews. Paired with Peacock‘s expanded schedule, NBCU’s MLB rights package is built to reach both traditional broadcast audiences and streaming-first fans.
