Peacock Added 7 Million Users After Roku Deal, Reaching 22 Million Subscribers

While Q3 was tough on Comcast’s cable business, it was a strong quarter for the company’s streaming business. Comcast announced today that its NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock reached 22 million subscribers by the end of the quarter on September 30.

One reason for the jump in subscriber numbers was the distribution deal Peacock made with Roku last month. The streaming service, which launched nationwide on July 15, still does not have a deal in place with Amazon for distribution on Fire TV devices.

“We are exceeding our expectations on all engagement metrics in only a few months,” Brian Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast said in a statement.

Peacock has three subscription tiers: Premium Free (with ads), Peacock Premium for $4.99/month and Peacock Premium with no ads for $9.99/month. Xfinity and Cox customers have free access to Peacock Premium. Comcast has not shared how many of its users are paying for the service and how many are using the free tier.
