Paramount+ Will Have 30,000+ Episodes at Launch, 36 Original Series This Year

During today’s streaming event, ViacomCBS shared more details about the upcoming rebranding of CBS All Access to Paramount+. Here’s what we’re learning about the streaming service.

ViacomCBS’ Shari Redstone said “This is not your father’s Viacom, and it’s not my father’s either. This is a Viacom that’s been reimagined for a new kind of marketplace and a new kind of consumer.” The service promises “live sports, breaking news, and a mountain of entertainment” when Paramount+ launches.

When Does it Launch?

CBS All Access will become Paramount+ on March 4.

How Much Will it Cost?

ViacomCBS execs announced during the event that Paramount+ will cost $4.99 per month with ads (that’s $1 less than CBS All Access) or $9.99 without ads. The streaming service will also have bundles available with premium subscriptions, including Showtime.

What Content Will Be Available?

The streaming service will have content from Paramount, CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, and the Smithsonian Channel.

Will Paramount+ Have 4K Streaming?

Yes. Paramount+ originals will be available in 4K, HDR, and Dolby Vision. Content will also be available to download on mobile devices, and you’ll be able to switch from one device to another without losing your spot in your show or movie.

Here’s What You’ll See On Paramount+

Live Sports

Over 1,000 live sporting events per year will air on Paramount+.

You’ll be able to stream the same NFL games from CBS All Access on Paramount+. Doubling down on soccer, Paramount+ will be making the sport a core part of its service, with matches shown all year from both national and international leagues. The service will also be the streaming home of National Women’s Soccer League, full regular season and Challenge Cup matches.

Breaking News

The streaming service will include a 24 hour news network and local news and weather from over 200 affiliates across the country.

In addition to news programming already available, Paramount+ will host new series based on existing news franchises, including 60 Minutes+, Forty Eight Hours’ The Lie Detector for true crime stories, and CBSN for global 24/7 news.

Entertainment

Paramount+ will have 30,000+ episodes and 2,500 movies at launch, with more to come. The service will also debut 36 original series in year one.

Paramount movies will be available on Paramount+ within 30-90 days after their theatrical debut. MGM movies will also go to Paramount+ after being released in theaters.
