Paramount+ has pulled the trigger for the fifth and final season of Mayor of Kingstown. The original series has been renewed for a short-order eight-episode season, giving the Jeremy Renner-led crime thriller one last chance to tie up loose ends and to go out on its own brutal, Tyler Sheridan-crafted terms.
Created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown has been among the top titles on Paramount+. The show’s first four seasons have had varying degrees of critical success. However, the latest season, which premiered back in October, has earned universal acclaim and currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The upcoming season will serve as a conclusion for the series, and with a smaller number of episodes compared to the usual 10-episode mark, Kingstown will get a tighter, more focused send-off.
The fourth season features a cast of Hollywood hitters, including leading star Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Edie Falco. BAFTA Award winner Lennie James, Tony Award winner Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi round out the veteran ensemble.
A premiere date for the fifth and final season of Mayor of Kingstown hasn’t been announced yet. Fans who care about Sheridan’s world, high-tension crime dramas, or Jeremy Renner’s gritty lead turn will have to wait for the less filler and more concentrated finale. Expect an emotionally charged, high-stakes wrap-up for the McLusky family to deliver a satisfying, focused finish that could still leave fans wanting more.
Cord cutters can stream the first four seasons of Mayor of Kingstown on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and other compatible devices with Paramount+. Starting at $7.99 per month after a 7-day free trial, Paramount+ gives you access to thousands of movies, shows, originals, documentaries, live sports, and a mountain of entertainment from CBS, Nickelodeon, BET, CMT, MTV, VH1, and more.
