Paramount+ has ordered Fear Not, a six-part limited series starring and executive produced by Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway. The series is currently slated for a global release in 2027.
Written by Bash Doran (Outlaw King, Boardwalk Empire), Fear Not is based on a true story adapted from the Vanity Fair article “Sympathy for the Devil” by Julie Miller. The series centers on Stephen Morin, a prolific serial killer accused of more crimes than Ted Bundy, and the unexpected relationship he formed with Margy Palm, portrayed by Hathaway, the last woman he kidnapped. What began as a life-threatening abduction evolved into a bond shaped by compassion, faith, and resilience, continuing long after Palm was released and lasting until Morin was sentenced to death.
A True-Crime Story Told From a Survivor’s Perspective
Rather than focusing solely on the crimes themselves, Fear Not grounds its story in Palm’s lived experience and the emotional complexity of her response to captivity. According to Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+, the series aims to balance the intensity of the true-crime genre with a more character-driven approach. “By grounding this chilling true story in the lived experience of our protagonist, Anne is bringing a level of nuance and gravity to the screen that only a performer of her caliber can,” Wiseman said in a statement.
The series is produced by MGM Television and executive produced by Steve Stark and Stacey Levin for Toluca Pictures, Helen Estabrook for Vanity Fair Studios, and Hathaway alongside Adam Shulman and Jonathan Rice for Somewhere Pictures. Margy Palm also serves as an executive producer, along with Bart and Noelle Palm.
Fear Not adds to Paramount+’s crop of original limited series offerings, particularly within the true-crime and prestige drama space. Hathaway is also set to appear in several upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, Verity, Flowervale Street, and Mother Mary, many of which are expected to release in 2026.
Paramount+ is available as a standalone streaming service in the U.S. and internationally, offering original series, live sports, and content from across the Paramount portfolio. Shows and movies include those from CBS, SHOWTIME, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, and BET. The service is supported on most major connected TV platforms, mobile devices, and web browsers. Fear Not is positioned alongside a growing lineup of exclusive scripted and unscripted originals designed to drive long-term subscriber engagement.
