Overnight PlayStation Vue Added More FOX Affiliates

PlayStation Vue has had a busy 24 hours adding local affiliates. Yesterday, as best we can tell, Sony added about 30 NBC and ABC stations to PlayStation Vue. Now we are hearing reports that overnight PlayStation Vue added some FOX affiliates.

It looks like more Sinclair Broadcast Group FOX affiliates went live on PlayStation Vue overnight. Sinclair owns 30 FOX affiliates across the United States some of which have already been on PlayStation Vue. Now it looks like Sony has started to add more Sinclair-owned FOX affiliates including WPGH-TV in Pittsburgh.

We are currently unsure as to the exact number of locals PlayStation Vue has because it has not released a complete list since December 2016; however, according to our notes PlayStation Vue is at over 200 locals closely followed by Hulu and DIRECTV NOW.

It seems Hulu, DIRECTV NOW, and PlayStation Vue are in a race to see who can add the most locals. DIRECTV NOW recently announced plans to add 55 more local affiliates and Hulu has been recently adding locals almost weekly.

Recently Sony also announced that it would eliminate its Slim plans, and current subscribers would have to pay an extra $10 a month at the end of October. When that happened, it was hinted at that Sony planned to add more locals to make up for the higher cost. Now it seems that Sony has started to ramp up its efforts to add more locals.
