Only 39% of Americans Stream TV on Their Smart Phones

People looking at smartphonesMobile viewing has been a growing trend in the United States. Now OpenSignal has released The State of Mobile Video Experience Report. According to the report, 39% of American consumers watch TV and 28% watch movies on their mobile devices.

55% of Gen Z and 52% of Millennials stream on mobile devices making them the most popular age groups to use their mobile devices.

Netflix was the most popular service to stream on a phone with 47%. Amazon had 38% and Hulu had 25%.

According to the report, 44% of Americans report experiencing buffering on mobile devices.

Streaming on mobile devices has become a huge battlefield with new services like Quibi trying to target this audience. Others like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu have been slowly releasing updates to their mobile apps. The question now is will it ever overtake traditional viewing on a TV.
