One Tip Every New Cord Cutter Should Know

Are you a new cord cutter? Thinking about becoming a cord cutter? Or do you know someone who is new? Make sure to send them this one big tip that makes being a cord cutter so much easier! This will also help prevent the number one reason why people give up on being a cord cutter.

So what is this great tip? Stop trying to find networks you used to watch and start looking for your favorite shows.

Almost daily I see a post or comment asking where to find one network or another network online. You really do not want the network, but rather you want the shows. The network is the cable way to get your show. Think of Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Crackle, and Tubi TV as your new networks bringing you the shows you want. Your old networks just added bumpers and ads—something that you can do without.

So if you are new and struggling or are thinking of being a cord cutter, sit down and make a list of your favorite shows. List them out and then hunt them down. It took my family about two weeks to find everything we wanted once we stopped looking for a network and started looking for our shows.

You will find shows from the same network can be spread across two or three different services. At first it may be confusing but after a very short time it will be as easy as switching between your old cable channels, and your show is on when you want it!

The new Roku OS7 that is slowly coming out has a feature that will make this even easier. It’s called Follow and will allow you to “Follow” your favorite shows and movies. When they become available online through a Roku-supported service you will get a notification telling you a new episode or season is online.

So go tell your friends and save them hours of trying to find a network app that asks them to login or offers frustration as they try to find all their content in one place. Cord cutting is a lot easier when you let go of the old networks and embrace your favorite TV shows.
