Nvidia Shield Experience 9.0 Update Brings Android 11 to Streaming Devices

Today, Nvidia announced in a blog post that it’s rolling out the SHIELD Software Experience Upgrade 9.0. The upgrade will bring the Android 11 OS to Nvidia Shield TVs.

With the update, Shield users will get an updated Gboard (the Google Keyboard) for using voice commands and Google Assistant, additional permissions for customizing privacy across apps, support for aptX-compatible Bluetooth headsets, and more upgrades shared in the update release notes.

Along with the update, Nvidia shared in the blog post that Google is offering new, U.S.-based SHIELD TV owners six months of Peacock Premium at no additional cost (normally $4.99/month.) With Peacock Premium, Nvidia Shield users will have access to every episode of fan favorite shows like The Office and Parks and Rec, Unlock everything Premium has to offer. Watch movies and shows like The Office and Parks and Recreation, exclusive originals like Yellowstone and AP Bio, and live sports including WWE and English Premier League soccer.

The update will begin rolling out today. You’ll see a notification on your screen to download and install the update when it’s available in your area.
