Most theaters are back up and running, and that means movie studios are reveling in traditional box office releases once more. But after the theatrical window closes, it’s time for the films to head to VOD for home viewing. Vudu and Fandango now are popular go-to’s for transactional movies on demand, so their top-grossing titles are a good way to get a feel for what the most-watched movies are.
The action thriller Nobody starring Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) was the top movie on Vudu this past week in terms of revenue. The film has a John Wick-like storyline about a hitman who can’t stay in retirement, and there’s plenty of action sequences. Nobody was also No.3 on FandangoNOW.
Wrath of Man, another action thriller this time starring Jason Statham, was the top movie on FandangoNow and second over on Vudu. Other popular films for the week include Spiral: From the Book of Saw, Godzilla vs Kong, Mortal Kombat, and more.
