No, Netflix Is Not Raising Its Price Again

For about a week now we have heard from readers upset about a second $2 Netflix price hike this year. The good news is this is not a new price hike but is just current subscribers being notified of the price hike that was announced in January.

Netflix confirmed to Cord Cutters News that this $2 price hike is rolling out over the next few months to current subscribers. The exact date of your price change will vary depending on your billing cycle.

The standard Netflix plan that offers two HD streams increased from $10.99 to $12.99 per month. Also, the Basic Netflix plan went up to $8.99 per month. The Premium plan, which provides up to four Ultra HD streams, increased from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.

“We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience,” the company said in a statement.

This is the first time Netflix has had a price change in over two years. Two dollars a month may feel like a lot, but it is still far lower than the $5 to $10 a month price jump many cable subscribers saw this month.
