Nielsen Adds Hulu & YouTube TV to Their Ratings Service

BOB'S BURGERSToday Nielsen took a major step forward in recognizing live TV streaming as how Americans are getting their TV. In an announcement made today Nielsen announced that Hulu and YouTube TV would be added to their ratings service. Now when you hear reports about how many people watch a show they will be a little more accurate.

Nielsen will measure Hulu and YouTube TV subscribers watching linear broadcasts live, on DVRs, or on-demand platforms on computers, tablets, phones, and streaming players.

The addition of Hulu and YouTube TV “is a major accomplishment in delivering Nielsen Total Audience to the marketplace,” Nielsen Product Leadership President Megan Clarken says. It’s “part of our commitment to provide trusted, independent measurement of the evolving modern media landscape.”

These new live TV services help Nielsen get even more accurate ratings helping content creators get a better idea of what the viewers are looking for.

Nielsen already tracks Sling TV subscribers viewing. If you want to opt out of the ratings service you will find an option in the settings to not have your viewing tracked.
