Nexstar Launches Commercial Free 24 Hour Live Local News Service for The Bay Area

Nexstar affiliate KRON has launched a 24/7 local news streaming service, called KRON-ON.

KRON-ON is the Bay Area’s only commercial-free 24/7 local digital news platform. The focus is on localism and keeping Bay Area residents in the loop about what’s happening in their area at all times.

In a press release, Tim Busch, President of Nexstar Broadcasting Inc said: “By efficiently utilizing KRON-4’s live news coverage and award-winning content portfolio, KRON-ON is bringing local viewers more premium local programming and content than any other station in the market, twenty-four hours a day.”

That 24-hour coverage includes breaking news, live events, and up to date weather and traffic information.

The daily schedule for KRON-ON is six hours of live morning news coverage, followed by 11 hours of live, local news and content, then five hours of live evening news. The KRON-ON app also has extras like Bay Area Sports Night, a one-hour sports talk show, live on weeknights at 7 pm.

KRON-ON costs $2.99/month or $29.99 for an annual subscription, after a 7-day free trial.
