NewsNet Is Buying 5 Local TV Stations

NewsNet

NewsNet continues to be a growing news network. The parent company, Bridge Media Networks, announced that it is in the process of buying five TV stations in Alaska.

According to an FCC filing, NewsNet is buying KBLT-LD 32 in Anchorage, Alaska, for $100,000. The other TV stations include KDMD, a Telemundo and MeTV affiliate; KTNL, a MeTV affiliate; KLDY-LD, a CBS affiliate that has been off the air since October 2020; and K06Qp-D, a low power TV station in Juneau, Alaska.

NewsNet has not announced what the plans are for these stations after the deal closes, although adding NewsNet to these channels will likely be a big part of the deal.

This comes as a growing number of small local TV stations are being bought up by bigger groups like Bridge Media Networks. Even large owners, such as Nexstar, have been buying TV stations.

NewsNet is already available on dozens of US TV stations across the country as a digital sub channel with an antenna. You can also watch it streaming free on its website, on a growing list of free streaming services like Local Now, and through its apps on devices like Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV.
