New ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Episodes will Hit Netflix in October

Earlier in July, Netflix came out with a reboot of Unsolved Mysteries complete with its iconic, suspenseful music and new baffling stories for you to try and wrap your head around. Now the streaming service announced the final six episodes of the series reboot will drop Oct. 19.

“Everyone comments about the music!” said Executive Producer Terry Dunn Meurer. “That’s probably the most memorable element of the entire series.”

While that part of the show remains the same, other aspects have changed from the original. The new version only focuses on one case each episode, while the original series featured several within each installment. Secondly, the Netflix version has no narrator. Robert Stack who was the original voice for much of the classic series died in 2003.

“The final decision was that it’s very difficult to fill Robert Stack’s shoes, and his trench coat,” Meurer previously told TVLine. “He’s just such an iconic voice. He’s such a signature of the show. We also wanted the actual participants in the stories, the family members and law enforcement [officers], to be more involved in telling the stories.”

Unsolved Mysteries is truly nostalgic for some who grew up listening to the chilling theme music and hearing the baffling cases, trying to put the pieces together on their own. Just days after the show was released on Netflix on July 1, Meurer said they’d gotten multiple, credible tips on the unsolved cases featured on the shows, and that they passed them on to the appropriate authorities.
