New Forecasts Predict Disney+ Will Reach 194M Subs in 2025

Analysts have adjusted their Disney+ forecasts to now say the streamer will reach a whopping 194 million subscribers by 2024, generating $13 billion in revenue. That number is “impressive since it only started in November 2019,” according to Digital TV Research analyst Simon Murray, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

These new projections are adjusted from Murray’s September forecast of 172 million after Q3 results were better than expected. Murray says these surging numbers are largely coming from the US and India.

“Much of Disney+’ initial growth came from the U.S., mainly due to the attractive bundle of Disney+ with ESPN+ and Hulu. More recently, India’s Disney+ Hotstar subs count has rocketed due to its coverage of IPL cricket. The U.S. and India will account for nearly half of Disney+’ subscriber base by 2025.”

Analysts at Digital TV Research are expecting Disney+ to add 112 million subscribers between 2020 and 2025, which is more than Netlfilx’s projected addition of 73 million subscribers. Netflix will have a total of 274 million subscribers by 2025, up from the previous forecast of 263 million.

Although Netflix has more subscribers than Disney+, the latter is growing at an astounding rate.

Murray’s latest forecasts show Amazon will reach 167 million subscribers in 2025, HBO Max will reach 28.5 million, and Apple TV+ will surpass 13 million.
