Netflix’s New ‘Fast Laughs’ App Feature Looks a Lot Like TikTok

Netflix is getting in on the viral video game with a new app designed to let users scroll through funny videos without committing to a whole episode. The streamer recently launched its Fast Laughs feature for the mobile app with clips from Netflix’s comedy library including films, sitcoms, and standup specials.

Now users can get little snippets of laughs in from the full-screen videos that look similar to TikTok and Instagram’s Reels. The feature can be found through the bottom navigations menu by clicking on the Fast Laughs tab. Snippets include films (Murder Mystery), series (Big Mouth), sitcoms (The Crew), and stand-up from comedians like Kevin Hart and Ali Wong.

“And what if you see a scene from a classic that is long overdue for a rewatch? Or catch something new that deserves a closer look? Fast Laughs lets you add series, films and stand-up specials to your list, or start viewing them immediately. You can also share the clips individually on Whatsapp, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter – so your friends can get in on the fun too.”

This new feature is basically another way for Netflix to promote and recommend shows to its users by using a fresh approach. It’s also just one more thing for us to add to our social media round-up check after we’ve finished TikTok or scrolled through our entire Instagram feed. Ultimately, it’s a sneaky way for Netflix to try and get users hooked on new shows and movies, driving more views to its content.

Fast Laughs is currently only available on iOS devices in select countries. Android users can expect the feature to begin rolling out testing soon.
