Recently Scripps Network, which owns several reality-based TV networks such as HGTV, announced that they will be pulling their content from Netflix. You still have time to enjoy shows such as “Hotel Impossible,” “Love It or List It,” and “Cutthroat Kitchen.” The current deal between Scripps and Netflix runs until the end of the year; however, when that contract ends you will lose access to many popular shows.
“In the end, it really is not the kind of dual-revenue model that best monetizes our content over the long term,” Scripps Networks Interactive COO Burton Jablin said during an earnings call, Variety reports.
Currently no future has been announced for Scripps-owned shows, but it is rumored that they are considering all options including Hulu and Amazon Prime. It is also possible that Scripps sees Netflix as a factor in the viewer count on their channels dropping. It is possible that this move is an effort to drive people to buy the shows from stores, such as Amazon, or to subscribe to services, such as Sling TV.
If you enjoy their shows you may want to binge on them because as of the end of the year we are unsure how you will be able to enjoy them.
