Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ Renewed for Second Season

After a highly successful debut on Netflix, Bridgerton will be heading back to the streamer for a second season. Netflix confirmed the series’s renewal just one month after it premiered on Christmas Day. The news broke in true Regency fashion, through a society paper report by Lady Whistledown herself.

The gossip authority confirmed “the incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.”

Further details on the release are yet to be revealed, as Lady Whistledown is “disinclined to report on the particulars at this time. Patience, after all, is a virtue.”

Netflix is making a habit of releasing big series news like this via in-character announcements like this one. Last year, the streamer confirmed season 2 of Emily in Paris by way of a memo on letterhead from Emily’s fictional boss at Savoir Agency.

Bridgerton has been a major hit among viewers and critics alike. The series has a 92% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has reached the number one spot on Netflix’s top 10 rankings in 76 countries. Bridgerton, from Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, is now Netflix’s fifth-highest ranking series. The period drama is on track to reach 63 million households within its first 28 days of release.
