The drama series focuses on political ‘fixer’ Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her Washington DC-based team. The team sacrifices their time, personal lives, and often their morals to deal with the crises of political figures. The series ran for seven seasons and explored everything from politics to gender roles while maintaining a dramatic and exciting storyline.
Scandal was created by Shonda Rimes, the creator behind ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Private Practice’. The move from Netflix to Hulu isn’t surprising, as Disney owns ABC and has been in the process of bringing its content back to its streaming platforms, including Hulu. ‘Grey’s’ is likely to follow, when the distribution deal with Netflix is up.
However, Rimes will still have a major presence on Netflix, even after the hit shows are moved to Hulu. Rimes signed an overall deal with Netflix in 2017 to bring the “gripping, inventive, pulse-pounding, heart-stopping, taboo-breaking” stories the creator is known for to the streaming platform.
