Netflix Suspends Production on ‘House of Cards’ – Season 6 in Doubt

Yesterday we learned that season 6 of ‘House of Cards’ would be the last for the hit Netflix Original. Now Netflix has announced that they have suspended production following sexual assault allegations against the show’s lead star Kevin Spacey.

“MRC [Media Rights Capital] and Netflix have decided to suspend production on ‘House of Cards’ season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew,” Netflix and production company Media Rights Capital said in a joint statement.

At first, sources said the decision to end the show has nothing to do with allegations against the star Kevin Spacey. The decision is reportedly due to the story coming to an end and rumored declining viewership over the last few seasons. As of right now the final season of House of Cards season 6 is in doubt, and the current situation could lead to the show not receiving a proper ending.

Netflix House of Cards is based on the BBC miniseries of the same name that was based on a novel by Michael Dobbs. Netflix first released the show back on February 1st, 2013 and the show quickly became a hit for Netflix. In total, the ‘House of Cards’ has received 33 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations it was the first original online-only series to win a major Emmy nominations. “House of Cards” has received five Emmy nominations for outstanding drama and five Emmy nominations for outstanding actor in a drama for its lead Kevin Spacey.
