Netflix Still has 2.28 Million DVD-By-Mail Customers

Remember when Netflix first started out as a DVD rental service? You’d receive the discs in the mail in those red and white envelopes and pop them into your DVD player. It’s been more than 20 years since Netflix launched, and today they are known as a streaming service and for their original content. But believe it or not, 2.28 million people still receive Netflix DVDs by mail, according to this official report.

That was as of their third quarter report ending September 30, 2019. However, that number fell by 135 thousand from the second quarter report as DVDs continue to fade into something of the past.

One of the perks that come from the DVD subscription is the library is three times larger than the library of titles available to stream. Also, new-out-of-theater releases are available by mail as well.

The DVD subscription option is separate from the regular streaming plan. Monthly subscriptions start at $7.99 for unlimited DVD rentals, free shipping and you can cancel anytime. They also offer a free 30-day trial.
