Netflix Plans to Start Streaming Shows The Day After They Air

Netflix FamilyNetflix is taking on Hulu right where it will hurt Hulu the most—by airing shows the day after they air starting with the new season of Better Call Saul, but there is a catch.

Americans won’t have access to this next day streaming service…

Yup right now only international subscribers will have access to new episodes of Better Call Saul the day after it airs. It is also unclear where this show will air internationally—whether everyone outside of North America or only a few countries will get access.

Even without access this is still a good thing for Americans. Netflix is known for live testing new features. If this is seen as a success you should expect to see Netflix expand the next day service to other shows and the United States.

The main reason Netflix is not streaming the show here in the States may be the fact that Hulu has a new deal with AMC to air their shows on Hulu in America.

This move takes Netflix into an area Hulu has dominated for a long time. At the same time Hulu is moving into areas Netflix has long dominated by partnering with more networks to bring in older seasons of shows and even striking a deal to take Epix away from Netflix to bring more movies to Hulu.

Clearly Hulu and Netflix have their eyes on each other and plan to fight this out to be the premier service for cord cutters.
