Netflix is again building its anime collection, this time by signing deals with animation houses in Japan and Korea. In total, Netflix now has nine content deals with anime studios. The new partnerships include Anima & Company which owns Naz, Science Saru, and Mappa from Japan, along with Studio Mir from Korea.

“In just four years, we’ve built a dedicated team based in Tokyo that serves to entertain the global anime community through new and aspirational storytelling. With these additional partnerships with industry trailblazers who do amazing work often marrying the latest technologies and traditional hand-drawn animation, we’re excited to bring fans a greater variety of even more amazing stories,” said Taiki Sakurai, Anime Chief Producer, Netflix.

Previous animation studio deals included Production I.G and bones in 2018, and Anima, Sublimation, and David Production in 2019.

With the current deals, Netflix adds Altered Carbon: Resleeved, Ghost in the Shell SAC___2045, and Dragon’s Dogma to its anime lineup. In 2021 and beyond, the service will add new titles including Spriggan, Vampire in the Garden, and Super Crooks.
