Netflix Raises Subscription Prices in Canada

Today Netflix announced a $1 to $3 price hike in Canada on all of their plans. Now the cheapest Netflix plan in Canda will cost you $9.99 a month for their basic one stream plan. The Netflix standard plan that allows HD and two streams at once will cost $13.99 a $3 price hike. The Netflix premium plan will cost $16.99 a month and allow 4K streaming and 4 streams at once.

Netflix says this new price hike will help fund new series in Canada and overall improvement of the service. This comes as more streaming services are launching in Canada including CBS All Acess, Bells’ Core+ that includes HBO and Hollywood movies for $20 a month and Disney launching a new service next year.

A price hike in Canada does not mean there will be one in the United States. Pricing for Netflix varies wildly from country to country. Netflix just did a similar price hike in the United States back in 2017 so it is very likely that it will be a bit before Netflix would raise their price in the United States again.
