Netflix seems to be saying if major networks want to be slow giving rights to stream their content we will just make our own content. This move will put pressure on content owners because not only will they have to think about when to give Netflix rights to their shows but they also have to think about if they don’t give access to their shows will they be lost in the mix of new high quality programing from services like Netflix?
While 31 originals are currently planned by Netflix, it is very possible more will come out in 2016. Netflix is known for sometimes announcing a show and releasing it in the same year.
No matter how many originals we get from Netflix in 2016 the fact is that online media is increasingly becoming the only place to see the best shows and movies. As this move to online first continues, it only helps cord cutters and online media to be seen as a real force in Hollywood.
