Netflix May Move Up Release of Orange Is The New Black Season 5 After Hack

Netflix may be looking at rushing out season 5 of Orange Is The New Black after a hacker posted the first 10 episodes online this weekend. Currently Netflix plans to release all 13 episodes of Orange Is The New Black season 5 in early June, but that may have changed.

In late 2016 a hacker broke into Larson Studios, a company that Netflix and other networks use. At the time of the hack the final three episodes had not been completed so the hacker did not get access to them.

In a statement Friday, Netflix said: “We are aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.”

The question now is will Netflix follow through on its plans to wait until June to release the full season. There are reports that talks are going on high up at Netflix to release it now in an effort to diminish the damages.

The version released on torrents is likely not the final version. Often some of the biggest changes to shows come in the post-production stage. So Netflix may not even be ready for a public release of Orange Is The New Black and may have to rush some editing to get it ready for release.

The hacker is also claiming to have unreleased shows from ABC, FOX, Nat Geo, and IFC.

Just to be clear: Netflix was not hacked, and your personal information was not accessed. The hack happened at a company Netflix and others uses to edit their shows. So no need to worry about your personal information.
