Netflix Launches Black Lives Matter Collection

When you log in to Netflix, you’ll now see a curated collection of titles sharing stories about race and racial injustice in America, with the title “More Than a Moment.”

Netflix announced the new collection with a statement on Twitter

The announcement follows a short and to the point statement from the company on Twitter on May 30th that said “To be silent is to be complicit. Black lives matter. We have a platform, and we have a duty to our Black members, employees, creators and talent to speak up.”

The collection includes shows and movies about being black in America, including over 45 titles. Some of those titles include Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, which premieres today; Oscar winner Moonlight; Ava DuVernay’s miniseries 13th; and When They See Us.

Along with adding the new collection, Netflix also removed four series that included blackface characters from Australian comedian Chris Lilley: Angry BoysSummer Heights HighWe Can Be Heroes, and Jonah From Tonga.
