Netflix Just Found a New in App Way to Promote Their Shows

For years Netflix has slowly been trying to find ways to get you to watch their original programming. The first major push was with pre- and post-roll trailers for the shows. Recently Netflix has been pushing larger cards for their original shows inside their menus.

Now Netflix has started to promote Netflix Originals on the login screen and profile select screens. According to a report from Tech Crunch, Netflix has started to promote original shows like BoJack Horseman, Orange is the New Black, Dark, My Next Guest, and 13 Reasons Why.

When you log into Netflix you will find a similar profile select screen but now the background has an image of a Netflix Original show.

According to Tech Crunch, the new promos are live on some Roku and Fire TV players. Netflix says this is only a test and the new promos may or may not be rolled out to all users.

Netflix has a history of showing different ads to different users. It is possible Netflix is targeting these ads to users they feel will be more likely to view the show with that ad type. So, its possible that Netflix will always show this ad to some subscribers and not others.
