Netflix is Working On More Faith & Family Based Shows

Recently there has been pushback from some Netflix subscribers saying the faith and family based programming has lately been lacking. Especially with Disney programming leaving in 2019 many have wondered what Netflix will do to replace that family friendly content. Now Netflix announced that they plan to expand their faith and family based original programing.

“It represents a significant percentage of the population not only here in the U.S., but around the world,” said Cindy Holland Vice President of Original Series at Netflix. She went on to say “grew up in a place that was very much steeped in those traditions.”

“I want to make some great programming for my cousins and their families too,” she said. “So it is something that we are focused on really building out a robust slate of family-friendly programming.”

Exactly what these deals will look like is still unknown as Netflix has not commented on how they plan to expand their faith and family programming. Netflix is reportedly adding 700 original TV shows in 2018 according to Variety with more planned for 2019. Many of these shows have yet to be announced so, for now, we will have to wait and see what Netflix does next.
