Netflix is Testing a Shuffle Feature For When You Don’t Know What You Want to Watch

If you’re in the mood to watch your favorite show on Netflix, but can’t choose where to start, the streaming service might soon have a solution.

Netflix is currently testing a new feature that will allow users to shuffle episodes. With this feature, users can pick a show, choose the shuffle option, and start playing random episodes. This creates more of a traditional TV viewing experience, where you would normally turn on the TV and see an episode of a show rather than watching in order from the beginning.

Currently, Netflix is testing this feature out with some of the most popular shows that people tend to go to when they can’t decide what to watch. That list includes shows like The Office and Arrested Development.

If this becomes available to everyone, we’ll see a new row on the Netflix screen, called “Play a Random Episode.” The thumbnails of shows that can be randomized will have a red shuffle icon in the corner.

“We are testing the ability for members to play a random episode from different TV series on the Android mobile app. These tests typically vary in length of time and by region, and may not become permanent,” a Netflix spokesperson said, according to the post from Tech Crunch.
