Netflix is How Most American’s Find New Movies According To a New Survey

In their survey of 5,340 individuals in the US and Canada, TiVo discovered key trends in how respondents are watching content.

One section of the survey focused on how survey respondents find new content and where they go to rewatch content. The survey results show that Netflix is the most popular option viewers choose for watching new movies and TV series they’ve never seen before, with 38.9% of survey respondents picking Netflix. Cable/satellite TV came in second at 26.9% followed by Amazon Prime Video at 25.5%.

This preference for watching new movies and shows on Netflix could have something to do with the original content being developed by the streaming service. Since developing House of Cards in 2013, Netflix has released hundreds of originals. Those have included some incredibly popular titles including Orange is the New Black, Nailed It, Making a Murderer, and Queer Eye. With these titles exclusive to Netflix, many viewers turn to Netflix for new content that friends, family, and social networks will be talking about.
