Netflix is Ending Support For Older Roku Players

Last night Netflix started to notify older Roku uses that their Roku Player will lose access to Netflix starting December 1st, 2019. Sadly Netflix has not posted a full list of what Roku players are losing support on December 1st, but it seems to be Roku’s like the old Roku HD that still uses the older Netflix app.

UPDATE: A Roku spokesperson confirmed it is only the first two Roku models will no longer support Netflix as of December 1st, 2019.

How can you tell if you are on the older Roku Netflix Channel? If your Netflix app does not support autoplay next, you are using a Roku that will be losing access to Netflix. If your Roku is losing Netflix at the start of December 1st 2019 you should see a popup warning when you launch Netflix on your Roku.

Here is a message Netflix posted on their website about the change:

Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after December 1st, 2019. Please visit netflix.com/compatibledevices for a list of available devices.

We can not be sure, but it is very likely the following Roku models will continue to receive updates:
