Netflix is Going to Finish Orson Welles’s Final Movie

One of the most iconic filmmakers ever has to be Orson Welles, but sadly his last movie, The Other Side of the Wind, was never finished.

Now it is reported by the New York Times that Netflix has picked up the rights to the movie. Frank Marshall worked on the film back in the 1970s and told the New York Times that “We’re going to get this made.”

This is not the first time someone has tried to finish this movie. In 2014 a team including Marshall and Peter Bogdanovicch, who appeared in the movie, secured rights to the footage. Their attempt fell through when they were unable to secure funding.

Funding should not be an issue for Netflix because it is spending billions on original content in 2017 after spending billions in 2016.

“This is a labor of love and a gift to the legacy of one of history’s greatest directors,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement to the New York Times.

No date has been released for when the film will come out. For now we will have to wait and see what Netflix does with one of the most historic unfinished movies of the twentieth century.
