Netflix Has More of IMDb’s Top 250 Movies, More Than Disney+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and HBO

While many Netflix subscribers have been talking about the streaming service’s shrinking movie collection, Netflix tops the list of streaming services carrying films from IMDb’s Top 250 Movies list.

Kill the Cable Bill looked at the libraries from several top streaming services and compared them to the IMDb list. Here’s what they found.

While Netflix is at the top of the list, having 32 of the top 250 movies doesn’t seem impressive. Kill the Cable Bill attributes the low numbers the increased competition with licensing deals. With more competition comes a larger price tag and streaming services focusing more on the quality of content rather than quantity.

Another factor causing streaming services to carry fewer major titles is an increased focus on original content. We’ve heard representatives for Netflix, Apple TV+, and Disney+ among others share that their plans include investing heavily in original content, including both movies and TV series.
