Netflix announced a new series in the works based on the popular Resident Evil video game franchise by Capcom. The live-action series by the same name will consist of 8 one hour episodes to start and will have a storyline centered in the game’s Raccoon City.

The series will feature two timelines following sisters Jade and Billie Wesker who are moved to the industrial Raccoon City as teens, and struggle to cope with the T-virus outbreak later as adults. The show will be written by Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) and Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead, The Journey Is the Destination)  will direct and executive produce the first two episodes.

Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time,” Dabb said in a press release. “I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”
