Netflix Costs More Now But Offers More Options Than 10 Years Ago

Netflix has come a long way in the past ten years. In 2012, the company’s standard plan cost $8.99 per month, and its premium plan cost $12.99 per month. Today, those plans cost $15.49 per month and $19.99 per month, respectively.

That’s a significant increase, but it’s not surprising. Netflix has invested heavily in original content over the past few years, and that content has been very popular with subscribers. The company has also added new features, such as 4K streaming, which have also contributed to the price increase.

In 2020 Netflix released 163 original programs. In 2021 it was 146 and in 2022 Netflix released 179 originals. Clearly, Netflix is investing heavily in content, and it has been paying off with hit shows like Squide Game, and Stranger Things, to name just a few. No longer is Facebook just a place to go to see old shows and movies but now has new programming you will only find on Netflix.

Despite the price increase, Netflix remains a popular option for many people. The company has over 222 million subscribers worldwide and continues growing.

Netflix faces strong competition from services like Disney+, Paramount+, Peacock, HBO Max, and more. This growing competition has put pressure on Netflix as the company has started to crack down on password sharing.
