This may not be a surprise to many but Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are dominating the world of on-demand streaming. What may surprise you is how dominant they really are.

Today Tivo’s research group announced their fourth quarter 2017 results, including a look at the most popular subscription video on-demand services.

According to Tivo’s report, 68.2% of all Americans subscribe to a video on-demand service. (That is up 4.4% year over year, and up 22.9% over four years ago.) Of that 68.2% Netflix dominated the field with 54.8%, Amazon Prime Video represented 25.6%, and Hulu had 16.7%.

Even more interesting is when you look at cord cutters: 83.3% of people who currently do not pay for a traditional pay-TV service subscribe to Netflix, 34.1% of cord cutters subscribe to Amazon Prime, and 27.4% subscribe to Hulu.

In a world with hundreds of streaming services even services backed by major names, such as CBS, Starz, and HBO, its impressive to see how dominant Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are. Even more impressive is all three of these services saw a jump in subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2017.
