Netflix Adds Deeper Alexa Controls on The Fire TV

Ever wish you could just use your voice to control Netflix? Now you can do just that after a recent Netflix update on the Fire TV. For some time now you have been able to do basic Netflix controls with Alexa like opening the app and pausing a video. Now Netflix has added far deeper controls to their Fire TV app according to AFTVnews.com.

Now instead of just asking Alexa to open Netflix, you can tell Alexa to “play Last Chance U” and Alexa will open Netflix and start playing Last Chance U. You can also ask Alexa to restart a show, fast forward 2 minutes, and more. Want to skip an episode? Just tell Alexa to play the next episode.

This update comes just days after the Amazon Fire TV Cube with built-in Echo Dot powered by Alexa. Now you can use your Fire TV 100% hands-free with Netflix. From turning on your TV changing the volume to playing Netflix can all be done without the need to touch your Fire TV remote.

Other apps have recently been adding Alexa support recently. Apps like ESPN, PlayStation Vue, and a host of other apps have recently rolled updates in the last year to add support for deep Alexa integration.
