NBC Plans to Launch a New Streaming Service Later This Year

NBCUniversal is hoping to grow their online streaming presence by launching a new streaming service later this fall, but no firm release date has been set.

The new service will be called Watch Back and will partner with some of the biggest YouTube stars. From the looks of it, NBCUniversal is hoping to take on YouTube as a growing number of YouTube stars grow unhappy with the service.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Watch Back is not meant to be a CBS All Access–type service. Rather NBCUniversal is hoping to expand into other areas and partner with existing content owners.

NBC is not the first to take on YouTube. Most recently Amazon has been trying to draw YouTubers over to Amazon Prime with the promise of better revenue. This all comes as YouTube struggles with keeping advertisers and content creators happy.

The question now is will viewers leave YouTube and move over to a new service from NBC Universal. NBC is hoping that if they have the big names people will make the move.
