NBC News Is Expanding Its Free News Service for Cord Cutters

Last year NBC News launched a free streaming news service called NBC News Now. We recently learned that the service would be expanding to a 24/7 live news streaming service targeting cord cutters. To do this, NBC is staffing up to be ready for the launch of 24/7 streaming news.

NBC News Now currently offers 8 hours of free live news every day from 3 PM to 11 PM Eastern. You are able to watch NBC News Now from the NBC News website and the NBC News app on devices like Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, iOS, and Android.

NBC has 20 dedicated staff working on the new NBC News Now service with Erica Fink as executive producer and Christine Cataldi was a contributing executive producer. NBC says they want the service to target the “news junkies” who want to feel up to date.

NBC News Now has recently added eight new members including Kelsey Barberio from NBC’s 3rd Hour of Today; Kayla Johnson who comes from NBC News graphics production team; Erin Kutch, an associate producer on MSNBC Weekends with Alex Witt; and Alexandra Turcios-Cruz, who was production assistant and researcher for NBC News Now.

NBC News says the 24/7 version of NBC News Now will go live in the first half of 2020.
