NBC Is Launching a Streaming Service in 2020

For some time now, we have heard that NBC was looking into launching a streaming service like CBS All Access. Now, according to Variety, NBC plans to launch the service in 2020.

Details are still thin, but the service will feature original content exclusive to the new NBC streaming service plus content from NBC Universal properties.

NBC is hoping that a streaming service will help offset the losses they are seeing from subscribers switching to services like Netflix. The question now is will subscribers walk completely away from NBC as the number of standalone services grow.

NBC is not the only media company following in CBS’s steps. Disney and AT&T’s Tuner both plan to launch streaming services in 2019. These companies are rushing to try and cash in on a fast-growing streaming market. Yet many are wondering at what point will companies like CBS, Disney, AT&T, and now NBC Universal spread the market so thin that customers will just got to Netflix and Hulu.

For now, we will have to wait and see exactly how NBC launches their service as we get closer to 2020.
