CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, is in full swing as we enter the second official day of the show. Now that we have been here for two days here are some early impressions.

HDR TVs

HDR is a new standard that brings even more vivid colors and images that make a TV pop out at you in a way that 4K alone could not. Although the jump from SD to HD was a must-have move for many, people seem less excited for 4K because for some the difference is just not that great.

This new HDR standard really adds a noticeable change and is everywhere at CES. Every TV manufacturer seems to have a model ready to hit the market. Even Roku has announced a Roku HDR reference model that should soon hit the market. Look for HDR to replace 4K as the new must-have TV add-on.

DVRs

DVRs are big this year. While there may not be a ton of new devices there is a lot of news around DVRs. Tablo DVRs is coming to Apple TV and Web OS; Channel Master just landed a deal to bring Sling to their DVR+; and cord cutters will soon have more options to record their over-the-air content.

Streaming

There is a ton of news at CES this year about streaming. Hulu announced more original shows; Netflix just came out in an additional 130 countries; and Sling TV announced new features and a new user interface.

So far these are the big news stories we have found during our time at CES.
