‘Mulan’ is the Top Streamed Movie in 57 Countries

Disney’s live-action remake of the 1998 animated classic Mulan is the most popular movie in the world right now, according to data from Atlas VPN. The research firm reports the film is the most in-demand movie in 53 out of 87 (61%) countries for October. Mulan was released over Labor Day straight to the Disney+ streaming service for $29.99, skipping a theatrical premiere. It’s now available to rent or buy on a variety of digital platforms.

Atlas VPN conducted its research based on the top 100 popular movies from IMDb compared to Google trends to come up with the top movies worldwide this month. Strangely enough, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was the second-ranking in popularity across the globe with 32% viewership. It’s not a new release, so it may just be a coincidence that viewers are all tuning into it this month, or maybe Halloween has something to do with viewers wanting to conjure up the magic and spells in the wizarding film.

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas claims the third spot on the chart, followed by Pulp Fiction, The Godfather, Ginny Weds Sunny, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Avengers; Endgame all with 1%.
