MSG & MSG+ Are No Longer Available Nationwide on DIRECTV NOW

Last week—without any fanfare—DIRECTV NOW added the regional sports networks MSG and MSG+. MSG is a regional sports network in the greater New York area and is similar to FOX Sports and NBC Sports regional channels.

Last week though DIRECTV NOW had MSG and MSG+ in their lineup coast to coast in the United States. Cord Cutters News even confirmed with an AT&T rep that they could be found in the Just Right and higher-priced packages.

Now DIRECTV NOW has pulled MSG and MSG+ from all but a handful of markets in the greater New York state area.

If you live in the greater New York state area you should have access to MSG and MSG+ yet readers in the greater New York City area tell us MSG is no longer in their lineup. Also, DIRECTV NOW chat support is telling subscribers that it is not part of the DIRECTV NOW lineup. We check the DIRECTV NOW RSN lookup tool in the greater NYC area and it did not show MSG as part of their lineup.

As best we can tell MSG and MSG+ were active nationwide for at least 48 hours if not longer. Sometime late last weekend or early this week AT&T pulled the channels from their DIRECTV NOW and moved it to the greater New York state area.

What happened? Well, it looks like someone screwed up and made the channel available nationwide by mistake. Why DIRECTV NOW reps are telling people the channel is not available in New York City and why some readers cannot access the channel in markets that should have is something we can not explain. Yet we have confirmed with readers in the greater New York City area that they do have MSG networks but at this time DIRECT NOW’s website and reps say it is not available on DIRECTV NOW.

To help figure out what is happening we have reached out to AT&T for comment and will update this post when we learn more.
